The Mission: Designing a Chocolate Teaching Kitchen for Culinary Education

SUNY Schenectady County Community College’s School of Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism sought to develop a highly specialized teaching lab focused on the craft of chocolate production. The goal was to provide students with hands-on training using professional-grade equipment tailored for each stage of the chocolate-making process. Singer Equipment partnered with the school to supply and configure a full range of kitchen equipment to support this unique educational vision.

Challenges: Sourcing and Integrating Specialized Chocolate Equipment

This project required extensive research to source advanced chocolate-making machinery, some of which was imported from Europe. The equipment needed to be both educational and functional, allowing for precise control and visibility at every step of the process, from bean to bar.

Solution: Specialty Equipment Procurement for Chocolate Production Training

Singer Equipment delivered a complete equipment package to support the school's chocolate curriculum. The setup included:y for both the back-of-house and front-of-house, including:

Custom cocoa bean roasters
Chocolate winnowers and nib grinders
Melangers and conche machines
Tempering equipment with enrober features

Each piece was carefully specified to provide students with real-world experience in professional chocolate-making processes, while supporting the operational needs of the teaching lab.
