The Springfield Culinary and Nutrition Center in Springfield, MA, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide fresh, nutritious meals to Springfield students. As part of the district's free breakfast and lunch program, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the center ensures every student has access to high-quality meals.

Singer partnered with the Springfield School Department to design, equip, and install a state-of-the-art school foodservice operation capable of preparing and distributing 60,000 meals daily.

Challenges: Creating a High-Volume Nutrition Facility

Building a centralized nutrition center required integrating specialized kitchens, storage areas, and prep stations while maintaining seamless workflow, energy efficiency, and USDA compliance.

Solution: Efficient Kitchen Design for High-Volume Meal Production

Singer worked with the Springfield School Department to develop a cutting-edge facility with production kitchens, a commercial bakery, a cook/chill area, and dedicated prep rooms. Walk-in refrigeration and dry storage ensured streamlined ingredient management.

Key equipment included Hobart dishwashing systems, Advance Tabco prep tables and sinks, and True Manufacturing refrigeration units. A dedicated training room supports student culinary education.

Singer ensured adherence to compliance standards, leveraging Education Procurement Programs and Strategic GPO Partnerships to streamline procurement and maximize value within budget.
